Musco Sport Field Lighting – Hawkins County Schools
- 4 Musco Lighting Control Cabinets
- 14 Sixty Foot Steel Poles
- 78 LED Light Fixtures
- 2,000 linear feet of new underground conduit and wire
In the fall of 2022, Holston Electric Cooperative and Hawkins County Schools contracted with Stansell Electric and Musco Lighting to replace their old malfunctioning sports field lights and wood poles. Stansell retrofitted new LED fixtures to eight existing 60’ steel poles at Rogersville Middle School’s football field. Surgoinsville Middle School’s softball and baseball fields both received all new Musco LED fixtures and poles. In addition, Church Hill Middle School’s softball field also received new LED fixtures and poles which had zero field lighting prior to this project.
Stansell Electric worked through winter, braving cold, wet and rainy conditions to overcome some difficult obstacles. This included hitting bedrock at a few of the new pole foundation locations, slowing the progress slightly on the 3’ diameter by 10’ deep borings. Fortunately, with the use of their Watson Pressure Digger, they were able to get the foundations to engineered depth. These projects were safely and successfully completed in February of 2023 and Hawkins County Schools stated they were very pleased with Stansell’s work and that they hope to work with them again soon.
