About the Project

The Pigeon Forge Parkway Signal Replacement project was a significant upgrade to four intersections along one of the most trafficked roadways in the region. The scope included replacing strain poles with mast arms, installing new signals and signage, enhancing pedestrian infrastructure, and upgrading sidewalks to meet ADA compliance standards. Cabinets and controllers were customer-provided, ensuring the latest technology integration for the City of Pigeon Forge.

This project required a dedicated approach to overcome several unique challenges, including:

Underground Utilities:

Working on the Parkway presented challenges due to the high density of underground utilities, including a critical 16-inch water line supplying Gatlinburg. To ensure safety, hydrovac excavation was used within two feet of marked utilities, and additional clearance was provided for sensitive infrastructure like the water line.

Power Pole Riser Issue:

A riser installation required precise coordination due to proximity to power and communication lines. By collaborating with the utility department and providing necessary materials, the issue was resolved safely and efficiently.
