Murfreesboro Contract
On January 1, 2022, Stansell Electric was awarded an electrical maintenance contract for the City of Murfreesboro. This one year contract primarily focuses on traffic signal maintenance and transportation projects which can include installing new traffic signals. However, other city departments, such as Parks and Recreation, are permitted to utilize this contract for their electrical maintenance needs.
The following are different types of maintenance contract projects Stansell has completed for the City of Murfreesboro this year…
- Flashing Yellow: At existing intersections, the city is testing flashing yellow left turn features. On all approaches, Stansell removed existing 5-section signal heads, then installed 4-section signal heads in its place. They relocated all street name signs and added an additional 3-section signal to each approach to maintain MUTCD requirements. This included installing new signal conductors to each of the 4-section signals.
- High Mast Lighting: A vehicle struck a control cabinet and service to sections of I-24’s lighting. Stansell installed a new service rack with a CT cabinet and control cabinet then repaired damaged conduit from service feeding the high mast lights. They scheduled with MTEMC to pull new feed from the transformer to the new service rack, then installed new contactors and breakers for the high mast lighting.
- Ball Park Lighting Re-lamp: After reports of several burnt-out ball field lights, Stansell provided and installed new lamps and ballasts throughout three of Murfreesboro’s ball parks. In addition to the new field lights, burnt wiring and a bad disconnect were discovered and replaced.
- Cannonsburgh Village: With Cannonsburgh Village being so far from the main roadway, the parking areas after dark were dangerous for pedestrians. Stansell provided and installed LED floodlights and photocell sensor to turn on the lights from dusk to dawn, also included was a manual override switch allowing the lights to be operated at any time.
