Buc-ee’s Sevierville
Stansell Electric was excited to collaborate with Blalock and the City of Sevierville on a fantastic project! We’re delighted to share the completion of a new signalized intersection at Sevierville’s S.R. 66 and the brand new Gateway Blvd.
The main goal of this project was to create a safe intersection that could handle the growing traffic demands of the area. With the addition of the Gateway to Adventure, featuring the largest Buc-ees in the nation, it was essential to ensure public safety for both locals and visitors.
To accommodate the high traffic volume and make sure everyone can enjoy their “beaver nuggets” safely, Stansell took on the challenge of installing 12,148 lbs. of overhead equipment in 1,322 labor hours – all without any injuries or incidents. This new intersection has improved traffic directions, added pedestrian crossings over a state route, increased intersection capacity, and potentially reduced accidents.
Our dedicated team faced various hurdles along the way, including issues with faulty cameras and material shortages. The most significant challenge was safely securing heavy overhead arms above the state route without disrupting traffic. Thanks to the incredible collaboration with Sevierville police, we managed to pull it off by working during the night to ensure minimal disruption.
But it doesn’t stop there – our team went above and beyond! During the project, we spotted a stalled car on the state route with a distressed individual trying to figure things out. Quick thinking, effective teamwork, and commitment to Injury Free led us to swiftly create a plan. We safely moved the car off the road and into a parking lot. It’s all about looking out for one another and keeping our community safe!
Starting in October 2022 and wrapping up successfully in July 2023, this project has significantly improved traffic safety and flow at the intersection of Sevierville’s S.R. 66 and Gateway Blvd. We’re immensely proud of our accomplishments and our team’s dedication to excellence.
