Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
Introducing Stansell Electric’s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Maintenance Team, a diverse group with decades of experience that includes underground, overhead, troubleshooting, and new installs. This experience more than qualifies this team for constructing, integrating, and maintaining the growing ITS infrastructure in our markets. Their focus on safety, quality of work, and customer service is second to none.
Considering Intelligent Transportation Systems, transportation networks, fiber optic systems, electrical, preventative systems maintenance, as well as underground utility locating services, this team has the qualifications and professional certifications needed to succeed. The ITS team works together to ensure that all TDOT devices in Middle Tennessee are running properly.
“SEC is charged with some of the largest and most complex ITS projects in Tennessee. With the increased demand for new ITS projects coming to Tennessee, the need for established and highly qualified ITS contractors is extremely important for the deployment and maintenance of ITS projects. SEC has focused on hiring and retaining highly qualified staff to ensure the success of the ITS projects. TDOT/TOD is thankful for that and for ensuring a clear and transparent line of communicationat all levels.” -Lee Smith, TDOT Traffic Operations Interim Director
Supporting this strong and versatile ITS maintenance team is an ITS-dedicated project management team, comprised of three highly experienced project managers, dedicated finance and schedule managers, and a technical solutions analyst. Together, these two teams form Stansell’s Middle TN ITS Solutions Team, a group solely focused on Intelligent Transportation Systems projects. From design-build to final project acceptance, this team is ready to build the next generation transportation and traffic management systems.
Travel Time Signs
Installation of Travel Time signs located in Lebanon TN and Dickson TN; these signs show an estimated time to a specific exit. Stansell worked with our partners to create a scope of work and best practices for site safety and installation.
Replacement of all TDOT CCTV Cameras
Stansell Electric replaced over 130 legacy CCTV cameras in Middle Tennessee for TDOT. This included replacing over 20 Lowering devices on 80-foot poles.
Replacement of DMS Sign & Horizontal Truss of Gantry
Stansell Electric replaced a 20-year-old legacy TDOT DMS sign and steel structure on I-65 North near Old Hickory Boulevard, with a new structure and larger, full color sign. The team developed a plan to ensure the safety for all workers and success of the project. Part of the plan, to access and replace the sign and truss, included rolling roadblocks. This resulted in shutting down the interstate for short periods of time while workers and the sign were suspended above the roadway during installation.
4K Cluster Poles (I-24 Motion Test Pilot)
Installation of three 110’ 4K Cluster Poles with six cameras atop each pole, and the accompanying ruggedized network system, enabled a pilot project for TDOT and Vanderbilt. These three sites and infrastructure were the foundation for a new nationally recognized and award-winning transportation project for TDOT and Vanderbilt on I24 in the fall of 2022.
