Metro Nashville Bridges
Being part of Nashville’s original bridge lighting install many years ago, Stansell Electric’s Customer Solutions team was excited to be working again with Metro Nashville Public Works (MNPW) to keep the Korean Veterans Blvd. and John Seigenthaler Pedestrian bridges illuminated.
In 2021, we were tasked to upgrade the pedestrian bridge to LED, set up a more streamline control system for the KVB bridge, and upgrade overpasses to LED in the downtown loop. The cost of traditional lamps and ballast along with availability was a challenge as most of the existing fixtures were decades old and beyond ability to repair. There were also many complaints to MNPW about the lighting and it not being safe at night.
Stansell Electric worked with a lighting vendor and Civic Engineering to develop a fixture package for both bridges and overpasses. A submittal package was built, samples including lighting levels and colors were brought in for the City Commissioners to review and select. The project was completed in budget and on time.
