Description
Stansell Electric is seeking a General Superintendent to provide overall leadership for on-site field administration, supervision and technical management for all Specialized Services operations. The General Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring all project manpower needs are met through careful planning and manpower schedule management. This requires a strong knowledge of the Electrical field in order to provide quick / appropriate solutions as projects progress.
Responsibilities
- Leadership
- Support and constantly strive to conduct business by utilizing Stansell Electric Company Core Values as the standard by which you operate.
- Must be familiar with and follow all Stansell Electric Company policies and procedures.
- Must provide proactive leadership in the planning and managing of a SpS project.
- Develop and mentor subordinates toward a successful career with Stansell Electric Company.
- Actively work with the Safety Coordinator to ensure that all requirements of safety are met.
- Must maintain current certifications for First Aid and CPR.
- Must have OSHA 30 Hour Construction certification.
- Must continually participate in training sessions offered by Stansell Electric Company and remain focused on continuous improvements of the business.
- Assure individuals involved in the project have received proper training and have a complete understanding of the task at hand.
- Proactively seek opportunities to learn and apply new job skills.
- Responsible for enforcing safe working conditions for the entire project.
- Maintain employment levels in coordination with Human Resources and Division leadership.
- Administer employee development reviews, disciplinary procedures and documentation of policy violations for field employees.
- Communication
- Must provide a timely response to project related concerns and issues.
- Hold on-site staff meetings on a regular basis for the communication of information and training.
- Proactively communicate with the Project Manager and/or Service Manager regarding project status, any changes occurring and any anticipated problems.
- Scheduling & Productivity
- In coordination with the Project Manager, assist in the development of an initial schedule and provide detail to the schedule as required for the project. Maintain spreadsheet of work assignments per individual and post this document.
- Attend Labor Requirements Update meeting per schedule and document labor/equipment projections per assigned spreadsheet.
- Prior to the start of each work day, ensure that all SEC site personnel have specific task assignments, have a thorough understanding of the means and methods to accomplish those tasks and verify that all the information, tools, equipment, materials, personnel, etc. required to perform the assigned task are readily available on-site.
- During daily meetings with lead men, review objectives/production goals, material needs, tool and equipment needs, prefab needs, manpower needs or any other impending project related issue.
- Attend pre/post job meetings, as required.
- Maximize equipment utilization.
- Monitor payroll/ time reporting.
- Quality
- Responsible for the physical, tangible quality for all projects.
- Ensure the project is code compliant.
- Set specific standards for the quality of workmanship to be used on all SEC projects.
- Recognize superior craftsmanship while assuring that all work completed by SEC employees meets or exceeds industry standards.
- Budget/Billing Assistance
- Assist the Project Manager in projecting job costs and updating when changes occur.
- Assist the Project Manager with the review/approval of vendor, subcontractor and miscellaneous invoices for the project on a bi-weekly basis and always prior to monthly cut-off.
- Security
- Must protect the company’s assets from loss or damage.
- Preconstruction
- Participate in preconstruction process consistently to bring quality work in ahead of schedule, safely and at or below budget.
- Identify and coordinate any special requirements for individual projects – i.e. Tools, Training, Safety, Site specific items.
- Develop a job plan and construction schedule in coordination with the Project Manager
- Housekeeping
- Strive to maintain clean worksites.
- Monitor vehicle condition for the division
- Material Cost
- Actively manage on-site material storage and monitor material equipment deliveries to maintain project schedule.
- Actively review vendors for the best value and quality of materials to ensure material cost and quality requirements are being met.
- Monitor stock inventory for the division.
Qualifications
Required:
- Excellent communication skills / strong management and people skills
- At least seven years previous experience in the Electrical trade
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multitask under pressure and still maintain the company's core values
- Computer skills necessary will include:
- Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook
- Ability to learn company's software system
- Strong background in NEC Code and general knowledge of NFPA requirements
Preferred:
- College degree in Electrical or Business Management
- Previous service related experience as a Site Superintendent or Field Foreman on large projects
- Strong Electrical Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of Data and Security Systems
- Some Leadership Training
